Welcome to the world of Commons, where everything is trying to kill you. You're a tiny Bonemeal lost in the world. How long can you survive? Play to find out.

A Pokemon-like rogue-like, you battle all types of critters, trying to collect as many dogbones as possible.

Basic WASD control scheme. 1-9 buttons used for spells.

3 different environments to explore.

20 spells to help even the odds.

20 different Commons to fight.

A single run consists of 15 levels.

Planned updates to include more Commons and new playable characters.

Monster designs are based on drawings I made as a child (circa 2001). I drew hundreds of these, but sadly only 7 pages survive (containing 56 Commons). I plan on adding all of them to this game.

It appears you can win by clearing level 12.

Yeah. I think I confused the max level stat and max health stat. Sadly I'm a noob at this (zero experience with coding until now). It will be addressed in the update. What would be the ideal length for a game? (It doesn't help I suck at playing my own game).

You did fine!  12 levels was plenty long, and having a finite limit makes skills like woodclearing more valuable (since destroying trees gives you extra score you otherwise wouldn't have access to). I think the ideal session length for a game depends on what kind of game you are trying to design; for an arcade-style game like this I think 5 minutes is a pretty classic goal, but it makes sense for a run that wins to take longer than an average run most of the time.

It's funny how a few days of polishing this game can do. The game now has 15 levels (after every 5 levels the environment should change). Woodcutter has been renamed Resource since the later levels don't have trees. At the moment this seems like the right length for a game, but I might include more levels that make the game harder (you will still be able to finish the game at level 15, but for a more risk you can go further). But that will be a future update.
